&lt;p id='p_1'&gt;Equity benchmark indices began the week on a positive note, with the Nifty closing above 9,900 for the first time ever in&amp;nbsp;in NSE's history.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p id='p_2'&gt;The Sensex closed up 54.03 points at 32074.78, while the Nifty ended higher by 26.60 points at 9912.95. The market breadth was negative as 1302 shares advanced against a decline of 1395 shares, while 156 shares were unchanged.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p id='p_3'&gt;Wipro, Cipla, UltraTech Cement and Vedanta gained the most on both indices, while ITC and Coal India lost the most.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p id='p_4'&gt;Midcaps underperformed the Nifty, but still had a strong session, while FMCG stocks took a hit. The Bank Nifty too ended above 24,000 for the first time.&lt;/p&gt;
