Priyanka Chopra twirled a bit too much on Emmys red carpet

It must have been a warm evening at the 68th Emmy Awards held on September 18, because Priyanka Chopra took it upon herself to fan the photographers sitting on their haunches to get a few hundred clicks of her.

She twirled and she giggled in her red Jason Wu gown on the red carpet, her coy laughter up to par with the best of Bollywood actresses from the 1990s. She was a spectacle, an exotic delight amid American stars, and nothing could come between her having the time of her life in the limelight.

All this while other actresses walked on to the media pit like regular human beings, posing in the same way they did the last time, the same way they will the next time. How blah, downright boring.

Piggy Chops walked on beaming away with her bee-stung red lips (more like a swarm of bees, TBH) and earned a place on the best-dressed list of international ratings spots that make do with the best of the lot.

Everything aside, Priyanka didn’t just leave her twirling to the red carpet, but she took it on to the stage as well, while walking in with Tom Hiddleston.

She went round and round like an actress from a 1950s musical, or a slowly spinning top. Maybe she thought she looked cute. Maybe she was trying to do her bit for global warming. For whatever reasons, best known to her, she thought it would work.

Which it probably did, because reports of her cosying up with Taylor Swift’s former beau, Hiddleston, made news the next morning. The question is, were the fashion experts impressed with her style?

A bright red dress, an even brighter wearer, her hair looked chic, neatly pulled back; jewellery was to a bare minimum and well, we will look past the underwire on one-half of the dress on the torso.

What we will not look past, however, is her theatrics and attempts at doing kathak twirls wherever she went.

But as they say - you can take the girl out of the desi, but you can’t take the desi out of the girl.
