The author served in the Indian Air Force as a helicopter pilot and is a recipient of the Macgregor Medal for best military reconnaissance in 1986. Chhina has become a leading historian of the Indian Air Force and the former British Indian Army. He was responsible for organising the Indian Air Force archives at Air Headquarters.
