#TheDailyToast: Happy Bongs in the land of Big Behen

This year Bengal is polishing the silverware and setting out high tea with cucumber sandwiches to celebrate the new chimes. Inspired by Pelé kissing Mamata di's hand before jetting off to Buckingham Palace for some of the real action, no doubt, these lovely people thought, why not, and promptly added the Big Ben no less, to their skyline. Which means the lifelong dream every Bengali nurtures of actually living in London is now, literally, within reach. As mothers stuff their children's mouths with sandesh and ghee rice this morning, they point out the window and urge them to study more, study harder, study faster so Durga Ma will bless them with a one-way ticket so they too can migrate and write a book on their diaspora experiences and do like that like that nyaka glaces with Obama on a national stage.

Clearly, banning rosogullas in cabin baggage on flights is helping.

Pranabda, taking a leaf out of Narendra Modi's book, has become increasingly strategic. He says we love the taste of hummus, the Israelis hear hamas and, momentarily taken aback by India's never-before-revealed bloodthirstiness, acquire a newfound respect for the average software typing, economics bhashan giving, siesta and sweetmeat-loving, soporific Indian.... no Third World meekness here... oh no don't underestimate us. The hamas on their part realise that India was not being all that friendly after all and want to know, what *exactly* was in those gift-wrapped box anyway? Afraid of being cannibalised, unsure of what of what strategy to be used to combat this never before confronted threat, this newfound violence, they stand down, causing an uncalled for ceasefire on the front, the first in years. Pranabda, we have it on good authority, will be frontrunner for the Nobel Peace Prize next year.
