Prime Minister Narendra Modi is quite the tech-friendly, new-age social media leader. In fact, he's one of the most widely followed celebrities on Twitter. It is no secret how the PM and his party, the BJP, leveraged social media during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and beyond. But this social media frenzy has a downside too.
Although the prime minister still commands a huge fan following, he's also been the subject of hilarious jokes, memes, cartoons on the internet. The web is full of "achhe din" memes, "feku" jokes, "mitron" parodies and so on.
So, when the internet found this picture of Modi (see below), in a rather sombre mood, seemingly trying to avoid eye-contact with former PM Manmohan Singh and a host of other dignitaries, social media went into a tizzy.
On Friday, September 23, Hamid Ansari launched his book Citizen and Society at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The book, comprising lectures delivered by him, was released by President Pranab Mukherjee. The event was also attended by Prime Minister Modi.
In a photograph taken at the event, Modi - without even uttering a word, or even looking at anyone - once again became meme material and the butt of many jokes on social media.

Twitter users - meme makers, 140-character humourists and the like, had a field day trolling the prime minister.
