AIB podcast with Shah Rukh Khan reveals how witty he actually is

It’s no secret that Shah Rukh Khan, aside from the horrendously mind-numbing movies he stars in, is a rather intelligent, witty, charming and funny man. He can be rude when he wants to and he always says thing that make sense. He has over the years demonstrated his hallmark sense of humour at various talk-shows, interviews and award-shows where he is the emcee.

This time, however, the King Khan took his charm and wit to the next level as he sat with the four men that changed the course of stand-up comedy in India: Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Ashish Shakya and Rohan Joshi, also known as All India Bakchod.

AIB’s podcasts have been quite the show, with guests ranging from Kunal Nayyar to Irrfan Khan to Nawazuddin Siddiqui. But Shah Rukh Khan is pretty much the top of the game when it comes to having internationally witty and funny Indian people on your show.

In 45 minutes that can only be most accurately summed up with the laugh-cry emoji, SRK and AIB get candid, casual and most of all, entertaining beyond words. Here are few of the best moments.

1) Talking as vaguely and cryptically as possible about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s assault in Rajasthan, SRK was incredulous about how his name got dragged into a story he had nothing to do with. He then came to the logical conclusion that he doesn’t or won’t call anyone. He’ll just go to the place of the person concerned and get a selfie.

"I have decided anyone says anything about me - wrong, right, good, bad ugly - I will just go to their house. Because at the end of it all it's all about a selfie," said the King Khan. "One day I've decided I'll take seven days off and take selfies with everyone who has a mouth to speak or fingers to write. I'll be the most powerful man in this country," he added.

2) Talking about the lack of freedom to speak their minds, public figures such as him have, SRK mentioned an unnamed friend who has a padded room, which he uses to improve his voice. Not only does King Khan remark that his house his too small to have a padded room (yeah right), he also added the purpose of that room: somewhere he can scream out loud: "haan maine kiya, haan maine yeh bhi bola tha, aur main yeh bhi bol raha hoon, haan main Shah Rukh hoon. (Yes I did that. Yes I said that as well. And now I’m saying this. Yes I’m Shah Rukh."

3) Shah Rukh Khan says that while he was once backstage with Amitabh Bachchan taught him two things.

“I asked Amit ji, ‘what is the last thought, before you enter the stage? What is in your head? What is in your heart? How do you feel?’ I check my zippers.”

4) Shah Rukh Khan also responded to criticism of only acting with young girls in the AIB podcast. He said that he is helpless because he can only work with the heroines he are offered. "I can't tell young girls to grow up," Shah Rukh says, "I can't tell my director, umar dekh ke liya karo, talent chodo."

5) He talks about being criticised for doing the same thing again and again in his films, like recently when he was told that his acting in Raees was similar to his acting in Don. He says, "Am I the most pathetic actor in the world? Am I the boyfriend who is the last to know that his girlfriend is two-timing him? Am I the same in every film year after year?"

Speaking about playing the role of a dwarf in Aanand L Rai's next film, he added that if anybody said his acting is similar to one of his previous films, he would kill that person.
