Sudhir Mishra has a shocking ‘story’ of election-time India

It’s a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. But Sudhir Mishra’s Life Support, a 12:53-minute-long short film based on the nasty of dynasty, is rather significant.

As part of the India Today #Conclave’s #BigShort for India Tomorrow series, Mishra’s short film depicts the bitter infighting among leaders of an unnamed political party, which ends in a bloody and gory twist.

An ageing ailing patriarch, an ambitious “heir apparent”, and a spokeswoman are locked in a battle of political supremacy. Who would get the mantle of the next party chief? They are, as is India now, in search of a story.

A winning story. A story to kill for.

Mishra knows the heartland and the wars that rage inside tranquil bedrooms of political aristocrats, in whose unquiet breasts beat secrets and lies and point-blank betrayal.

Watch the film and enjoy the twisted finale. And let the denouement terrify you.
