The prodigal son of Kazakhstan returns! This time, in attendance at the Kennedy Center Honours, Kazakhi TV journalist Borat took the stage to eviscerate Kanye West and the former US President Donald Trump for their recent fiascos.
The iconic satirical character, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, made his first sighting since the 2020 sequel Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, at the gala ceremony in Washington DC, US.
On stage to honour the Irish band U2 for their contributions to American culture, Cohen’s Borat seems to have spotted the US President Joe Biden and the First Lady Jill Biden seated in the audience. “I know the President of the US and A is here. Where are you, Mr. Trump?” he quips.
Cohen turned his attention towards rapper Kanye West’s recent spats of Nazi-praising and Hitler-loving hate speech that resulted in a Twitter ban, among a great deal of other things.
Cohen proceeded to sing a parody of the U2 song, “With or Without You”, aptly titled “With or Without Jews”.
Finally, the comedian paid tribute to the Irish band at the event by referring to them as #MeToo and referencing their 2014 album Songs of Innocence, which was automatically added to iTunes user accounts without their consent.
Though the likes of George Clooney, Gladys Knight, Tania Leon and Amy Grant were honoured alongside U2 at the event, the eastern European reporter seems to have stolen the show beyond all doubt.
Great Success!
