All the Cristiano Ronaldo fans who were not happy that the Portuguese star went to Saudi Arabia instead of playing in the more competitive European leagues might have good news. Saudi club Al-Nassr's manager Rudi Garcia has said that Ronaldo will leave the club to finish his career in Europe.

He had signed a record-breaking deal with Al-Nassr after the FIFA World Cup. The contract sees the striker earn a reported $200 million a year.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who is 38 years old now, will be 40 if he completes his 2-year contract at the Riyadh-based club.

What Garcia said: The French coach said that Ronaldo is a positive addition, as he helps to disperse defenders. "He is one of the best players in the world. He will not finish his career at Al-Nassr, he will return to Europe," Garcia said.

  • He also said that Ronaldo's new teammates at Al Nassr shouldn't be fixated on passing him the ball and that it's important not to be overawed by him.

The record-breaking transfer: The former Real Madrid striker secured a whopping $75 million-per-year contract, plus commercial deals to add up to $200 million move to Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr earlier this month.

Controversy at Manchester United: Ronaldo's move to the Middle East came after he was released as a free agent by Manchester United in November 2022 after his controversial TV interview with Piers Morgan where he criticised the team management and the head coach.

  • He was linked with a number of clubs at that stage but ended up signing a lucrative contract in Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo's performance in Saudi Arabia: Even though Ronaldo scored twice during Riyadh XI's friendly game against Lionel Messi-led PSG, he is yet to score in two appearances for the club and they were knocked out of the cup in the semi-finals by rivals Al Ittihad last week.
