This is the third straight monthly price reduction for commercial cylinders which are used by business establishments like hotels and restaurants. Rates were cut by Rs 91.5 per 19-kg cylinder on April 1, and by a steep Rs 171.5 on May 1.
No change for domestic cylinders: There has been no change in domestic cylinder prices. Currently, domestic cooking gas costs ₹1,003 per 14.2-kg cylinder in Delhi. In Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai, the rates are ₹1,029, ₹1,002.5, and ₹1,018.5 respectively.
These prices are revised by oil marketing companies on the first day of every month. The cost of commercial LPG is significantly higher in comparison to the ones used for domestic purpose.
Currently, the cost of commercial cylinders in Kolkata stands at Rs 1,875.50, while the price in Mumbai has decreased to Rs 1,725 and in Chennai the price has reached Rs 1937.
