Actor Salman Khan’s security has again been beefed up after a recent threatening email from a Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar which mentions jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The email, which threatened Khan of dire consequences, also mentions a recent interview of Bishnoi where he is talking about the actor. Brar is a close associate of Bishnoi.

What the email said: The threatening email was sent on Saturday (March 18) and was received by Prashant Gunjalkar, who is a close associate of Salman Khan.

“Goldy Brar wants to speak to your boss (Salman Khan). He must have seen the interview of Bishnoi and if he hasn’t, make him watch it. If he wants the matter to be closed, let him speak to Goldy Brar. If he wants to speak face-to-face, then let us know. This time we have informed you on time, next time you will only be shocked,” the email read, reported India Today.

After receiving the mail, Khan’s team filed a police complaint at the Bandra police station under Sections 506 (2), 120 (b) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Why Bishnoi is after Salman Khan? Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is allegedly the mastermind behind the killing of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala, in 2022, has been threatening the actor because of his pursuits in the forests of Rajasthan in 1998.

Salman Khan is accused of killing two blackbucks in Rajasthan Kankani in 1998 when he was there for the shoot of his movie Ham Saath Saath Hain.

Bishnoi comes from the same community that reveres the blackbuck which Salman Khan allegedly killed.

Bishnois believe that blackbucks are the reincarnation of their spiritual leader Bhagwan Jameshwar, also known as Jambaji.

In one of his recent interviews, Bishnoi said: “There is anger in my mind against him since childhood. Will break his ego sooner or later. He should come to our deity’s temple and apologise. If our society forgives, then I will also forgive him.”

The threats: The first pre-planned attack on Salman Khan was to happen in 2018. One of Lawrence Bishnois aides was arrested for planning an attack on Khan at the behest of the jailed gangster.

Then, in July 2022, after Bishnoi was named in the killing of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala, Salman Khan also received anonymous threatening letters. Though Bishnoi denied any role in the threat, it was widely believed it was the handiwork of one of his aides in order to intimidate the actor.

Not the first time for Salman: Getting threats from a gangster is not new fro Salman Khan. In 2002, when the actor was at his peak, he was threatened by gangster Guru Satnam, who demanded Rs 3 crore from him.

At that time, Khan had brushed off the threat saying "jo dar gaya so mar gaya", a popular dialogue from the movie Sholay (1975). He had applied for a revolver's licence then.

After the recent threat, Salman Khan’s security has been increased. Plus, he has already been provided with the Y+ security cover after he received a threat last year.

The actor so far has not spoken anything on the threats.
