Fighting legal battle with BharatPe, Ashneer Grover asks media not to use photos where he looks 'fat'

Ashneer Grover, the BharatPe co-founder, known for his work, his savage replies on reality show Shark Tank India, and on Twitter, and his legal troubles, has made a weird request to the media.

Grover is currently dealing with a legal case after his own BharatPe slapped a civil lawsuit against him of Rs 88 crore for mismanagement of the company’s funds. However, it looks like that it is the least of his concerns. In a recent tweet, he asked media NOT to use photos where he looked fat, as he finds them ‘offensive’.

What?

Grover in his tweet said that he has lost ‘15 kgs’ and 'since visual appeal is important' he is expecting that media uses the picture he tweeted where he is standing next to his wife.

Press: You may write anything you get paid to write about me. I won’t complain. I have one request - please use this picture - nothing is more offensive to me than seeing my older fatter self after losing 15 Kgs! I don’t even read the stories like most - visual appeal is imp !!

What is the BharatPe case?

BharatPe, the company he co-founded, has filed a case against him. Last year, in the month of December, BharatPe filed a lawsuit against Grover and his family members including his wife Madhuri Jain Grover, who used to be the the head of controls at the company.

Why?

  • The lawsuit alleges that Ashneer Grover, Madhuri Jain Grover, and other family members misappropriated company funds for personal use.
  • A criminal complaint has been filed with the Economic Offences Wing for embezzlement of funds, forgery, and criminal breach of trust, among others.
  • During the time that Ashneer Grover and his wife quit the company or were forced out, an internal audit was conducted which reportedly claimed fraud and misappropriation of funds by the Grovers.

What’s the latest in Ashneer Vs BharatPe?

Three months of the case started, the Delhi High Court on Monday, March 13, advised both the parties to do a settlement outside of the court. In return, the fintech company’s lawyer replied to him that it might happen later, but not just yet.

The Delhi High Court also directed the lawyer for Ashneer Grover to request that the businessman maintains decorum and refrains from criticising the company's executives (from his book and his tweets).
