[Watch] AIB Save the Internet response - The internet doesn't need saving

The entire internet is going bonkers over this alleged threat to net neutrality. There’s a lot of misinformation being presented, knee jerk reactions are being promoted and a massive issue is being made out of something that isn’t really an issue. Gary Becker has a Nobel Prize in economics – he knows what he’s talking about – and he says there isn’t an issue.

Actually, there is. The issue is that influential people don’t put in the effort to actually understand issues before forming opinions and influencing the entire country’s.

So, from an economist who’s actually worked on telecommunications regulation in several European countries, here’s what you actually need to know about net neutrality:

1. What is net neutrality?

2. Will it "change the way" the internet is used?

3. What would happen if we insisted on net neutrality?

4. What about the evil telecom operators who snort money using money sitting on a lehman brothers executive?

5. But wouldn’t this allow telecom companies to block access to sites it doesn’t want me to see?

6. But won’t it affect innovation if telecom companies charge you to make your website accessible?

7. But isn’t TRAI evil?

8. What about other countries?

So here’s my overall point – how about you don’t blindly believe in what the activists tell you, go and do your own research into this, and come up with your own opinion after understanding the issues involved.
