Steve McQueen's Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera

Reel in a piece of Matinee history with this beauty; a 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera.

What makes this ride extra sweet is that it belonged to Hollywood star Steve McQueen and it is the last car he ordered before his death in 1980. The car was fitted with dual side mirrors, a sunroof and a limited-slip differential for better grip and control at the limits. While there have been no official estimates from the Mecum Daytime Auction (in Monterey), where it is to be auctioned in August, speculation sets the figure around $1.5 million.

American fashion house Kate spade and Magnolia bakery

Fashion and food make for sweet pickings this august as American fashion label Kate Spade indulges her sweet fantasy by making cupcakes fashionable with the launch of a new dessert-inspired collection in partnership with the most famous cupcake bakery in New York: Magnolia Bakery.

They will launch an accessories collection in the fall that will include a cupcake box tote, banana pudding crossbody bag, illustrated tote and cookbook clutch. The bakery is sometimes credited with propelling a "cupcake craze" in the 1990s; not least because it found glorious mention in the movie Sex and the City.

Launch: BMW X6

With the new James Bond film expected to hit theatres later this year, it's only fair that cool cars be launched to precede the return of the sexiest spy from MI5.

This time it's the all-new BMW X6, the only Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) in the world that was launched on Thursday. The X6 with the M Sport package showcase the familiar hallmarks of the German Marque with extravagant, emotive design, luxurious interiors and extensive customisation options.

As for colours, expect Alpine White as non-metallic paintwork and the following four in metallic paintworks: Carbon Black, Flamenco Red Brilliant Effect, Space Grey and Mineral White. With an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.15 crore, it better be a suitable match to the ones outfitted at the Q branch of the MI5.
