No butts: How flaunting cleavage is in vogue again

For more than a few years now, the focus has been on the "rear" end of fashion. Ensembles that flaunt the bountiful derriere have been in the limelight for some time now. This trend showcased by stars like Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Amber Rose, Nicki Minaj, Sofia Vergara and Cheryl Cole have all helped contribute to fanning one’s desire to flaunt the "perfect booty".

A variety of celebrity “butt selfies”, posed to posterior perfection have only fuelled the fire. Strategic over the shoulder shots, a flexed butt, a flash of side boob and a comehither look, has captured the imagination of millions of men and women across the globe. But, not everyone is born with it and most stars have at least three people on any given day dedicated to sculpting their rump. This “au natural” boon is a rarity only a few, have been blessed with. However, now one can breathe a sign of relief. It seems the industry’s fascination with cushy tushes is waning. Over exposure can be quite an evil thing – pushed too far – it drums up no excitement.

So now what? Well, a resurgence of the erstwhile neglected cleavage. Phew… a much more realistic target to achieve. Most women will agree with me that a killer cleavage not only makes them feel more desirable but also boosts their self-confidence. So ladies, who have been keeping their bosoms under wraps, can finally flaunt it once again.

But don’t take my word for it; runway and red carpet trends are, slowly but firmly, putting the focus back on the "front". The 57th Grammy Awards recently held in California were proof of this. Iggy Azalea chose to wear an electric blue Giorgio Armani gown with a deep V-neck while Gwen Stefani chose a black mesh top with a pair of trousers showing a hint of skin. Toni Braxton’s plunging cleavage in a white Marc Bouwer dress ensured the focus was on the front, and Beyonce too followed the trend in a plunging Proenza Schouler gown. Not one to be left far behind, Lady Gaga grabbed eyeballs in a metallic Brandon Maxwell number. The daringly low cut gown showed more than some skin sin with an added touch of thigh flash and leg. One can always rely on the avant-garde beauty to add touch of showy burlesque to her ensemble. It wasn’t just her, but “butt queen” Beyonce and the girl that never really deviated from showing off her best asset, Kim Kardashian, who gave it a rest. For a change, Kim chose to flaunt her front to the delight of the shutterbugs. Her gilded golden Jean Paul Gaultier gown modeled after a dressing gown just about held everything in under a slim belt. Keeping the new styles in mind, Madonna’s choice of a chambermaid outfit with a cheeky behind was picked up by the fashion police as a definite faux pas.

Keeping this in mind, it may be time to hit the gym to work on a sagging décolletage. The beauty business has ways to help you do this. From anti-wrinkle serums to a “ChestSavers Bra” which promises to be an anti wrinkle bra. There are procedures like Vampire Breast Lifts where you inject a small amount of your own blood into your breasts.

Whatever your option may be, it’s time to kiss the bootylicious look bye-bye, and daringly draw attention to your cleavage.
