Natalie Portman debuts her new look in new Thor teaser. Twitter reacts

Marvel's Thor has returned in Thor: Love and Thunder in a whole new look. No, we don't mean him shedding his Fat Thor look but there's a new Mighty Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) now... and it's Natalie Portman.

Disney released the teaser trailer for the fourth installment of the Thor series on April 18. Watch it here:

STORYLINE: Viewers get to see Chris Hemsworth's Thor in a whole new outfit and hear Guns N’ Roses’ classic song, Sweet Child O’ Mine in the background. The new teaser also features the Guardians of Galaxy: Star-Lord played by Chris Pratt, Mantis played by Pom Klementieff, Drax played by Dave Bautista, Nebula played by Karen Gillan, Rocket is voiced by Bradley Cooper and Groot is voiced by Vin Diesel.

From the teaser, fans see Thor indicating that he is on a self-discovery journey and claiming that his superhero days are over. The teaser also shows Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie ruling over New Asgard as its new king and Russell Crowe as the Greek god Zeus, holding a lightning bolt. While Marvel has confirmed that Christian Bale is also a part of Thor: Love and Thunder's cast, he did not make an appearance in the teaser.

NATALIE'S THOR: Even though the colourful teaser was enough to excite fans, it was Natalie Portman's version of Thor that really sent fans over the edge. Natalie's Thor makes an appearance in the last 6 seconds of the teaser in a comic-accurate Mighty Thor outfit, holding the sacred Mjolnir.

Natalie's version of Mighty Thor or Doctor Thor (considering Jane Foster has a PhD in astrophysics) is expected to follow the story of Jason Aaron’s critically-acclaimed comic book, The Mighty Thor.

The comic book saw Jane Foster, recently broken up with Thor Odinson, take up the role as the Thunder God after Mjolnir deems Thor Odinson unworthy and strips him of his magical powers. Also, in the comic book, readers see that Jane's new powers come at a cost. Whenever the astrophysicist uses Mjolnir, her breast cancer worsens.

However, it’s unclear whether the movie will follow the same storyline as the comic book. Whether the movie does follow the comic book storyline or not, Natalie's Mighty Thor holds massive significance in the MCU.

Other than Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, this will be the first time a female superhero will be a part of the core Avengers group. She will also be the first female to have the power of a Norse god. Other than Thor Odinson, Captain America was able to summon the power of the Norse god in Avengers: Endgame when he held Mjolnir.

FAN REACTIONS: Long-time fans of the superhero are overjoyed to see Natalie taking up the Strongest Avenger's mantle. Here is what some are saying:
