"Not salsa. Not flamenco, my brother. Do you know Naatu?" says Ram Charan's Alluri Sitaram Raju in RRR as a condescending white man replies with, "What is Naatu?"

We all know what happens next.

And now, given that RRR has bagged a Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu (check out the full list of nominations), there are high chances that Ram Charan and Jr NTR might grace the Oscar stage with their adrenaline-fuelled moves. MM Keeravaani’s stellar streak at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards make him a clear frontrunner for the Oscars with the final ceremony taking place on March 12, 2023.

If the leads of RRR actually perform the Prem Rakshith-choreographed routine at the ceremony, the Oscars will turn into a Filmfare show as hardly do actors lip-sync to songs at the awards. More often than not, it is the norm for most of the Best Original Song nominees to be performed at the Dolby Theatre stage in Los Angeles during the Oscars ceremony.

Given that lip-syncing to the songs is usually not the norm in the West, most of the English-language nominees are performed by the artist or in the case of musicals, the singers who sang the songs in the film.

In the case of RRR, obviously Charan and NTR are doubling for playback singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. But given how both actors are the very face of the viral track, there are high chances they might too show up to show off their “naatu” skills at the ceremony. If the Oscars want to amp up their ratings among Indian viewers, this will definitely be a great move.

One can even imagine that the two might even have a “naatu face-off” with the other attendees aping their moves. Just imagine Tom Cruise trying to do the “naatu” with them! Here's looking at you, Maverick...
