Name change, team change, but the core of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is intact with coach Stephen Fleming and captain MS Dhoni.

At the IPL auctions, the Rising Pune Supergiants kicked off by picking Kevin Pietersen (base price Rs 2 crore) for just Rs 3.8 crore.

Next, the in-form Irfan Pathan at his base price of Rs 1 crore. Followed by Aussie all rounder Mitchell Marsh for Rs 4.8 crore. Only Ishant Sharma at Rs 3.8 crore might be a stretch seeing as he was often benched by his previous franchise, the Sunrisers Hyderabad. But then he’s a different bowler when Dhoni asks him to bowl short.

As for Pawan Negi, it wasn’t meant to be.
