Kaho Na War Hai! Why is Hrithik Roshan playing sad victim? Again?

If it feels like 2016, you can blame Hrithik Roshan.

Once again, he's gone ahead and made everything about himself. It reminds me of the popular ‘Nobody’ meme. Case in point:

Literally no one: …

I think it’s time we resign ourselves to the grim reality that Roshan will not let us reminisce about the good old Y2K era when wearing a mesh shirt was fashun and his Ek Pal Ka Jeena moves were the epitome of 'cool'.

Once again, Roshan has apparently managed to convince himself that Kangana Ranaut is an alien who practices an advanced variation of anulom-vilom — every time she inhales, she exhales abuse directed at him.

It all started all over again when the release date of Hrithik’s upcoming movie Super 30 was delayed — yet again — to avoid a clash with Kangana’s Mental Hai Kya (MHK), reportedly due to ‘business reasons’.

Meanwhile, MHK is all set to hit theatres on July 26.

What seemed to be a purely business decision has been termed as a move ‘to save myself from the personal trauma and toxic mental violence this would cause’ by Roshan.

Alongside, Kangana said it like it is, reportedly stating, “Hrithik Roshan, Madhu Mantena and Ekta Kapoor had collectively decided that Hrithik would push Super 30’s release date and Ekta will bring her film MHK on 26th July, they had taken this call last week itself, I don’t know why he wrote this sob story but I am glad that MHK getting a solo release…(sic).”

Producer Ekta Kapoor was also quick to clear the air, fearing a repeat of the Ranaut-Roshan spat in 2016. She tweeted, "My decision my film...so all brickbats directed to me pls! I'm my own person." She even released an official statement claiming the decision to move the date was taken by Balaji Telefilms "after recommendations from the distributors, trade analysts and a top research team".

So, who looks like they're causing a bit of unnecessary distress now?

To my mind, Roshan has also been playing victim for far too long — and he should just stop. And I say this because I want to continue listening to Ek Pal Ka Jeena without cringing, thinking, what a big crybaby! At this point, his best defence is to pretend he forgot all about pushing the release date — a decision he apparently himself took with Ekta Kapoor!

Cut to 2016.

Blowing Ranaut’s harmless ‘silly exes’ comment out of proportion, he was the first one to send her a legal notice. Then, serious issues — such as Asperger’s Syndrome — were bandied about; so were major accusations. Once again, case in point:

Literally nobody: …

Hrithik Roshan:

After almost a year, the cyber-crime cell put an end to the war, with the cops deeming the investigation as inconclusive. The public moved on, after giving both of them — or neither — the benefit of doubt.

And I was having a good day. We were all having a good day.

Until Roshan pulled a stunt again.

I would sincerely request him to stop playing the weepy victim now and please take charge. If Ranaut has been harassing him, as alleged, it is time to handle the issue properly — gather evidence, file a complaint or just sternly ask her to back off.

We are well past the Myspace and Orkut era. Crying your heart out on social media is seriously so 2000. Take a cue from all the brave men and women who shared their #MeToo experiences on social media — and then dragged their perpetrators to court.

That's how it's done.

That's how you save yourself from personal trauma and toxic mental violence. Try it.
