The last message Sushant Singh Rajput reportedly sent his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was, “How are you my bebo?” The message was sent on June 9. Sushant died on June 14 but never got an answer for it because Rhea was then miffed with him for sending the message a full 24 hours after she had left his house and not calling her back. Today, Rhea is under arrest of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for allegedly arranging narcotic substances for Sushant. She sure is not good. And there is no way for Sushant to know that.
The NCB, which has arrested Rhea, says it doesn't need Rhea for more questioning so she should be sent to judicial custody. Rhea's counsel says grant her bail since she is answering questions whenever and wherever she is being asked to answer. The NCB is opposing the bail. The bail application is being heard currently. For the latest developments of the hearing, read this.
The NCB now wants to probe the details about the house parties organised reportedly at Sushant’s house where drugs were allegedly consumed, among many other details. Rhea has reportedly given a list of some Bollywood people who attended these parties.
Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has called the arrest “a travesty of justice”. In his statement, Maneshinde also said: “Three central agencies are hounding a single woman who was in love with a drug addict.”
Maneshinde has drawn flak for calling Sushant “a drug addict” now that he is not here to defend himself. Maneshinde would know the legal implications of calling a dead man “a drug addict”. Abusing people can earn you abuses from people in return. But for Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, abusing actor Kangana Ranaut has earned him the position of the chief abuser. Pardon the slip of writing, we meant, chief spokesperson. Now, you can argue there can’t be a slip of writing because that is for the tongue. Well, slips are accidental. Accidents happen without explanations. Kangana Ranaut, meanwhile, has been asked to give an explanation within 24 hours over the dozens of alterations made to Manikarnika Films. Not the movie, but the office Ranaut owns at Pali Hill area in Bandra.
Yesterday, Ranaut said she was sure BMC would demolish her office. Among the many alterations, BMC has accused Ranaut of making are a ‘toilet being converted into office cabin’ and ‘new toilets being constructed alongside staircase’.
The actor will reach Mumbai tomorrow and may then answer why office cabins have moved into toilets and toilets are climbing stairs. Ranaut is in a direct fight with Raut in Maharashtra. To welcome Kangana, the Maharashtra government has ordered a probe into Kangana’s alleged link to drugs. Once upon a time the actor reportedly dated Adhyayan Suman. Upon their breakup, Adhyayan gave an interview in which he purportedly said that she gave him drugs and also consumed it. Maharashtra will make the interview the basis of its investigation.
Tomorrow in Mumbai, from the airport to her house, Kangana has nothing to fear because she has 'Y' category security and the blessings of Mata Karni. Not directly but via the agency of Mata Karni’s bhakts. Volunteers of Karni Sena who have vowed to escort Kangana all the way are votaries of Mata Karni, believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Durga.
Legend has it that Goddess Durga was born in an ordinary household in Rajasthan and married to a man who belonged to caste whose members were court poets.
For reasons unexplained, she left her marital house and without consummating her marriage and traversed the deserts of Rajasthan. On her way, she would bless everyone who she came her way. This went on for some 150 years. Mata Karni has many devotees and many of them have formed a sena in her name. The outfit provides a range of services (outside the ambit of law) like threatening to chop off women’s noses and providing them security.
In Pakistan, terrorists are working within the ambit of a law(less) Pakistan. Jaish-e-Muhammad, through a series of articles published in magazines and digital platforms, has asked Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to lift the restrictions on operations across the Line of Control. Such rule-based terrorism emanating from a country that has little regard for rules shows Pakistan has institutionalised terrorisms to the point that permissions are sought, granted and rejected by elected governments.
From the Chinese side, the attacks are coming through the Chinese army. Last night, a Chinese patrol team came very close to an Indian post. The thing with the Chinese is if you are not looking, they will soon occupy your post and then claim the land underneath the post as Chinese land. So, the Indian side fired some warning shots. Warning shots are basically fired in the air trying to convey to the enemy to stop or the shot could be at their bodies. This happened near the southern bank of Pangong Tso. Then the Chinese Army started firing shots and there was retaliatory fire from the Indian side The situation is tense.
One way of easing tension is listening to music, only if it can decouple itself from controversy. A song from Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Pandey-starrer Khaali Peeli has hit controversy before the movie could hit screens. So far over 1,86,000 people have hit the dislike button on the song after a line that says “Beyonce Sharma jayegi” after seeing goriya, which is Ananya Pandey.
People in India have apologised to Beyonce because they feel the song is racist.
Chances of Beyonce listening to the song are lower than Beyonce feeling shy upon seeing goriya, the chances for which are nil.
Talking of Beyonce reminds us of a song that she wrote which later ended up embarrassing her. The song was from Destiny Child’s 2001 album Survivor - Bootylicious. To begin with, Beyonce had no problem with the song. The problem started in 2004 when 'bootylicious' was accepted as a word in into Merriam Webster’s dictionary.
In the run-up to 2001, Beyonce lost some near and dear ones. She found comfort in food. Food provides comfort but plants extra kilos in the body. People began commenting about Beyonce’s weight problems, which she may not have really found to be a problem.
Beyonce wrote and produced Bootylicious as an answer to the criticism coming her way. But the word got enormous traction. This clearly wasn’t what she wanted. What does bootylicious mean?
Bootylicious, the Word Of The Day, was first used in 1992 by rapper Snoop Dogg. But Beyonce made it really popular. Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines the word as voluptuously sexy and attractive. The word basically can be understood by dividing it into booty and licious, meaning bottom and delicious respectively. The word is more of slang and that is why Beyonce wasn’t happy with the word finding its way into the dictionary.
What about the song? Hear it to know it.
We will leave with this for today.
Rhea’s hearing in the case tomorrow would happen via video conferencing so there will be no chasing of car. The focus may shift to Kangana’s entry in Mumbai then.
See you tomorrow.
