No Salman or Ranbir at wedding, Katrina Kaif shows how to axe the ex
Inviting your ex to your wedding is a worldwide debatable topic and can get messy either way. We're talking about Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal's wedding, and Ranbir Kapoor and Salman Khan being left out of the guest list. We will get that to a while, but a bit of context before that.
Remember when Prince Harry invited his ex-girlfriends Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas to his royal wedding and how it had raised eyebrows and become an internet rage for weeks? Chelsea Davy, who had been in the news for having a tearful closure, was left out of the evening celebrations and to top it off, had also gone viral for donning somber expressions during the wedding. To many, it seemed like she was feeling “it should have been me”.
So, here is the question: Do these debates apply to Bollywood too, a land which is known to create its own rules and break notions?
In the past, Bollywood hasn't really seen many couples inviting their exes to their wedding. Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor never attended each other's wedding; nor did Bipasha Basu and John Abraham (This is how John had reacted to the news of Bipasha Basu's wedding though.). The list goes on, with Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan not attending thier respective exes' weddings, nor inviting them to their own. So, in Bollywood, there is already a set precendent and looks like Katrina Kaif is following the same.
Well, as the world waits with bated breath for the next big fat Indian wedding; that of Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif, every piece of information that drops in seems to bring in more classiness than the last.
The Big Bollywood Shaadi started making news with the location of the wedding and the exclusivity and cost of the Pali mehendi. Next, everyone got to know about their even more exclusive (and expensive) Rs 7-lakh-per-night royal suite. Of course, who can sideline the Kardashian-style Non-Disclosure Agreement that guests are signing. But now, it seems that Katrina has set the bar higher by following the "Axe the Ex" wedding rule.
A report on India Today says that Salman Khan and his family have not been invited to Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif's wedding. When India Today spoke to Salman’s sister Arpita, she said, “We haven’t got any invite for the wedding.” As per reports, an insider close to the Khan family mentioned this: “No invites have been sent to the family. Neither Alvira [Salman's sister] nor Arpita has received any wedding invite from Katrina. The stories that they are attending the wedding are false.”
Another big name missing from the guest list is Ranbir Kapoor's. Katrina seems to have taken a call on keeping her exes away from her big day, although Ranbir's girlfriend and Katrina's friend Alia Bhatt is on the list, apparently.
This just goes on to say how no matter how cordial your relationship with your ex is (during work or even after work), there are some gates you simply cannot cross as an ex. No, not even if you are Salman Khan. Here, those gates happen to be that of the 14th century Royal Fort in Ranthambore, Rajasthan, where Vicky and Katrina are getting married.
