Finance ministry is crowd-sourcing Union budget ideas. Will it work?

One of the more interactive and interesting features that Twitter offers, is the ability to create polls. These polls that can remain active up to seven days, gives users an opportunity to select one of four options available (minimum two options are required). From simple yes/no questions to gauging popular opinions, these polls continue to be used by various users, media houses and brands.

The digital-savvy ministry of finance seems to have picked up on this trend and has started using Twitter polls to crowd source ideas for the upcoming Union budget on February 1. With close to 50,000 votes on four of these polls so far, this provides a rather insightful understanding of what the internet junta wants to finance ministry to focus on.

If the numbers are to go by, affordable housing, small businesses and agriculture seems to be the gist of what the public wants the finance ministry to focus on, in the union budget. The numbers may vary, because of the four polls, three are still active, and users continue to vote their preferences.

All things considered, it's not a bad way to get some insight into what the public wants. However, we do hope there's more in Arun Jaitley's bag of bucks than mere Twitter trends.
