Delhi elections: AAP watches BJP, BJP steps on gas

As the most exciting election in India since the general elections of 2014 winds down, both BJP and AAP are rolling up their sleeves and plunging into the nitty gritty of door to door visits and booth management. BJP's committed cadre, aided by RSS karyakartas from all over India, have perfected the art of last mile campaigning. But AAP's women and youth workers also have fire in their bellies. For BJP, the election to Delhi Assembly has become a prestige issue. For AAP, it's a battle for survival.

The opinion polls have spoken, now it's up to the people. BJP and AAP will do whatever it takes to make the next 48 hours count for a lifetime. So how are the two sides looking?

The BJP army is in full battle readiness:

1. There is extensive door to door campaign on the pretext of distribution of voter kits.

2. Every family is getting a personalised letter delivered home by the local candidate.

3. The Panna Pramukh has been deputed to go to every household to deliver the letter with PM and chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi's picture.

4. Organisation secretary and veteran of Uttar Pradesh elections in 2014 Ram Lal is calling each Panna Pramukh personally.

5. One RSS pracharak has deputed to oversee every Assembly seat.

6. Meetings of key locally influential voters has been called on February 6.

7. Households has been divided into four categories depending on level of support to BJP. All-India army of RSS workers called in to ensure that sympathetic voters reach polling booths.

8. Efforts are on to get key religious and community heads to openly declare support to BJP.

AAP is keeping an eye on the enemy:

1. They are watching out for 18 candidates who have same name as AAP candidates.

2. They are on the lookout for distribution of liquor and cash by rival parties.

3. They are using technology, distributing 250 high quality spy-cams and downloading special apps on 5,000 smartphones to sting opponents.

4. Instead of relying on volunteers as in the last elections, they are banking on the new organisational structure and AAP women and youth wing workers.

5. The volunteer army is keeping a close watch on rumours being spread by opponents.

6. Sympathisers have been instructed to scale up every small communal incident to senior leaders.

7. AAP volunteer teams wearing caps are deployed on border roads coming in to Delhi from Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad.

8. Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders will be participating in small closed door meetings across Delhi.

9. There will be an active social media strategy to ensure 5 key AAP hashtags will be trending till polling ends.
