The counting for votes in the high-stakes Himachal Pradesh Assembly election is underway, results of which will be a reflection on the BJP's demonetisation and GST gamble.

Earlier, exit polls released had hinted at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Party president Amit Shah, to sweep the state with around 47-55 seats.

The India Today-Axis-My-India exit poll claimed that BJP will secure around 50 per cent vote share in Himachal Pradesh followed by Congress which is expected to secure a vote share of 41 per cent. The rest 9 per cent will be divided among small groups or independent candidates.
