The results of the polls for the 542 Lok Sabha seats for the 2019 General Elections will be out today.

The Lok Sabha elections were held over seven phases from April 11 to May 19.
However, the campaign to this election was particularly turbulent where the distinction between the personal and the professional often completely crumbled. Several candidates, across party lines, were gagged for different durations on Election Commission orders, on the charges of their having delivered sexist or communal speeches.

All exit polls have predicted a clear majority for the Narendra Modi-led BJP with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) expected to go beyond 320 seats.
The exit polls have also predicted an almost clean sweep in most north Indian states for the BJP, quite like in 2014. What makes this predicted victory look even more impressive though are the speculative numbers emerging from Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha.
But the exit poll predictions have also led to massive bickering with opposition parties caustically blaming the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the projected loss.
Allegations of EVMs being tampered with or purportedly being transported about in private cars in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab and Haryana have surfaced accompanied by video clips that the opposition says reinforce concerns about voting machines just ahead of the counting of votes in this powerfully contested national election.
