As Uttarakhand HC quashes President's Rule, judgment day for BJP on Twitter

In a major setback to the Modi government, the Uttarakhand High Court on April 21 set aside Centre's decision to impose President’s Rule in the state.

"We don’t agree with the imposition of the President’s rule," the division bench headed by Chief Justice KM Joseph said.

The court has ordered a floor test on April 29, to test the confidence of Harish Rawat government.

Describing the court's verdict as a victory of people of the state, Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat criticised the BJP for the political crisis.

President’s Rule was imposed in Uttarakhand in the wake of a rebellion in the ruling Congress. Amid growing dissent against the leadership of Harish Rawat, nine Congress MLAs, had joined hands with the opposition BJP, triggering a political crisis in the state.
