China's National People Congress voted to pass an amendment to the country's constitution, paving the way for President Xi Jinping to stay in power indefinitely.

Of the 2963 lawmakers present, 2958 supported the change - with 2 opposing and 3 abstaining. The move also elevates Xi's status as the country&amp;rsquo;s most powerful leader since Mao Zedong who died more than 40 years ago.&lt;/p&gt;
