Why you should buy the Freedom 251

A lot has already been written about the world’s cheapest Android phone; the Freedom 251. It is undeniable that the business model behind the phone doesn’t add up. The phone comes at an extremely cheap price of Rs 251. While multiple reasons to not buy the Freedom 251 have been listed out, let me explain why you should, at least, attempt to buy it.

1. For Rs 251 you’re getting a full-fledged Android phone with 3G connectivity and dual-SIM capabilities. That’s no joke.

2. Imagine when you are angry and want to smash something. Instead of destroying an iPhone which costs a "mere" Rs 62,000, maybe you can smash your Freedom 251. It will hurt your pocket less.

3. It's a phone that you can give to your household help. So, instead of buying even a basic Nokia, you can hand your household help a bunch of these phones and he will be more than happy considering that he will be able to do everything that you do on your Android or iPhone.

4. If you want to learn the art of patience, then perhaps you should login to Freedom251.com and attempt to buy the phone. It will teach you a lot about patience. It may lead to taking yoga classes, which in the long run is likely to be good for your health.

5. The ultimate travel phone. That is, of course, if you manage to get the phone. You can carry a bunch of these phones, just like disposable cameras or camera films, but for much lesser an amount without worrying about losing them.

6. If you love Apple’s iOS, then the Android user interface of this phone will interest you. It looks identical – from the photos to safari icons on iOS, the Freedom 251 has it all. Folks at Ringing Bells claim that they could do this because Apple doesn’t have the copyrights to the UI of the iPhone. Tech journalists may find this amusing but for the farmer in the rural parts of India it could be enlightening.

7. The entire design of the phone is also seemingly copied from the iPhone.
