Five reasons why Android users hate those with iPhones

The age old battle of Android vs iPhone wages on even in the year 2015. If anything, this rivalry of two of the most dominant computing platforms of our times is at its zenith. We've never had a better Android phone as the Samsung Galaxy S6, and the iPhone for the first time has a big screen. At the same time, there is this new breed of Android smartphone, which packs a punch for the fraction of the price, flaunting features that'd even make the mighty iPhone twitch, something that was unheard of only a couple of years ago.

But what really polarises and divides is the way these operating systems and the gadgets that are powered by them define people. How people who use these products react to one other. That's the real story. That's the fun stuff.

iPhone users are always considered to be the rich folk. The ones who are willing to shell out a kidney for their gadget, which is seen as an extension of the personality, their fashion statement. Android users are seen as the geeks, the tweakers or perhaps the ones who care more about the value the product brings to the table.

People who use the iPhone are also known to rub people the wrong way. As there are far more Android users than iPhone users, more often than not it is the Android user that's on the receiving end of things. Here's what a lot of iPhone users do that put off a large number of Android users - intentionally or unintentionally.

Narcissism 101

iPhone users are a narcissistic bunch. Yes, most of them are. They really don't care, they can come off as offensive and can poke fun at how your phone looks, how big it is, how cheap it is, or even how complicated it is to use. And since Android is the most popular operating system on the planet, chances are you're an Android user.

Lightning strikes again!

Guess what happens if you're travelling with an iPhone user or are hanging out at his/her place and your phone runs out of charge? You're bound to ask for a charger and instead of the ubiquitous microUSB you'd be handed the dreaded lighting cable which works only with Apple's mobile products. It is what I'd define as a facepalm moment. And god forbid, there's a role reversal, you're in even more trouble. The iPhone user will suffer from poor battery life because that's just the truth of the iPhone's battery - it sucks. And you'd need to brace yourself for a hissy fit as you'd have the incompatible microUSB cable.

The single child phenomenon

If you know a friend who is a single child, then you'd know, he/she is normally a spoilt brat and is often averse to sharing anything. I know this to be true, because, hey, I am one. iPhone users are like that too. Be it a song, a movie or even a picture. If they have something nice, there simply isn't an easy way of getting an iPhone user to share content. In all honesty, it is more to do with the way the iOS is architected than the person's fault, but hey it is irritating nonetheless.

The exclusive apps club

Well, developers tend to gravitate towards the iPhone. Most hot new apps get launched for iOS before Android despite Android having more users. That's because there aren't many iPhone models, so it is easier for the developer to make an optimised for the iPhone than an Android smartphone. The iPhone is also the only one place where users can experience the best of what Apple, Microsoft and Google are doing on the software side of things. Apple doesn't make anything for its competitors. Yes, Apple Music is coming to Android, but hey, on the iPhone I've been enjoying it for almost two months now. Also we don't even know how good an app Apple will release for Android. Considering its track record with iTunes for Windows, Android users should be worried. My friends who use Android are already jealous of the exclusive Apple Music app I am enjoying.

The best phone in the world

Even if it is not the best phone in the world for most people the iPhone remains the pinnacle. Tell that to the poor Galaxy S6 user. Galaxy S6, right now, rightfully is considered to be the best phone in the world - and it does literally everything better than the iPhone - including photography. You'd probably think that'd impress someone, but no, an iPhone has a way of impressing people like no other gadget. In this day and age, you are judged by the gadget you carry, and the Galaxy S6 suffers from being a Samsung and not being an Apple. It is telling that it retails for 10,000 lesser than what it was launched for, but the almost year old iPhone 6 still retails closer to its original launch price. It is a hurtful truth that the Android guy has to deal with but it is also because Apple releases the iPhone once a year, Samsung, or other Android brands, well, they release their flagships multiple times. So you really don't own the best of that company for even a full year. Imagine what the Android guy will feel like when this fact is rubbed in - like right now.
