India will enjoy Valentine’s Day without watching Fifty Shades Darker

For young couples getting ready to celebrate Valentine's Day in India, the undeclared 'national vandalism day' already promises to be fifty shades darker this time.

Even before the countless groups of moral police lurking in every galli and nukkad (watch out, guys) could get ready to save our sanskriti, EL James's Fifty Shades Darker, which was released on Friday, played the spoilsport this time around.

Sadly, fans of the 50 Shades trilogy in India will again have to make do with their regular dose of Bollywood kink. Yes, just like the prequel — Fifty Shades of Grey — was not released in India after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) found it too racy for us, the latest film in the series too is unlikely to hit Indian theatres in the near future.

But may be for a change you would want to thank the scissor-happy CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani. Because we read some really disappointing reviews about the "mommy porn" sequel, which the makers promised to be steamier and raunchier this time.

Regardless of what is happening between Ana (Dakota Johnson) and Christian (Jamie Dornan) — apparently not really a lot, we hear — the trailer of the forbidden-for-Bharat movie was released in India last year. Of course, sans all the sex.

But before rushing to hit out at the censor board or its revered chief, don't forget that Nihlani and his team tried their best to clear Fifty Shades of Grey in 2015. The poor guys failed despite a major sanitation drive — the board had objections to some of the dialogues in the film, even after the Universal Studios made voluntary edits to the film and toned down its sex scenes and removed all nudity.

So expecting to see the sequel seems out of question. You better put it out of mind, if you can, until you download it from one of the torrent sites.

Meanwhile, a very happy and safe Valentine's Day!
