Why are YouTubers putting 100 layers of everything on their faces?

Bloggers need to stand out in some way and fashion bloggers in America found a ridiculously unique way of doing it: Testing the limits of makeup on your face.

A new trend called "100 layers" has taken over YouTube where bloggers are putting 100 layers of whatever makeup they have.

Blogger Jeely is having a lot of fun taking off a 100 layers of face mask.

This has given birth to "polish mountians", eyelids dying under the weight of mascara or just plain looking scary by puttinbg 100 layers of foundation on your face.

YouTuber Jeely started this trend by putting 100 layers of facemask. The video has garnered nearly 7.6 million views. Famous YouTuber Jenna Marbles joined in last week and her video already has had more than 8 million views.

Things have gone a little bit off the rails now that people are trying to put 100 layers of tan on their bodies or trying to wear 100 layers of underwear. Some give up, some reach the finishing line, but it's always great viewing.

This is happening because we have reached peak content fragmentation. There are too many think pieces and videos on everything. This is especially prevelant in blogging and vlogging where there is a distinct sameness to the content. This has been difficult for fashion bloggers to handle.

With the rise of Snapchat and Instagram, fashion icons are releasing and testing new material on their social media accounts (see Kylie Jenner) eliminating the middle-man.
