Breaking down a big fat desi shaadi: Top OTT wedding moments in 11 viral videos

Indian weddings are full of memorable, fun moments and everyone in the family wants to make it a grand, gala, once-in-a-lifetime event. Some, of course, go viral for all the wrong reasons (here's a compilation).

Here are some too desi wedding moments:

1. THE BOLLYWOOD PROPOSAL

There are very few over-the-top proposal videos that might beat this one by Shyam Shah to Shivani Bafna. Shivani Bafna is a well-known influencer on Instagram and Youtube, and she shared her experience in a 28-minute video. Shyam had prepared everything: right from the venue, the red hot dress, the car ride, the video to watch during the car ride, the blindfolded walk, the dance on Bollywood music, and the final proposal in front of the Eifel Tower. Well, if that's not OTT, we don't know what is.

2. THE WEDDING INVITE

The wedding invite apparently shows how much the couple cares for their loved ones and because it has to show the couple's unique personality, this one is an out-of-the-box experience.

3. THE DHOL AND THE BAARAAT

The Baaraat used to be a tradition where the groom, his family and friends would visit the bride's village to stay there for over 2 weeks. Over this time, the wedding rituals would be conducted and the two week period would end with the bride coming to the groom's home. But now a days, the Baraat is reduced to a few hours of music, dance, and party.

4. THE SURPRISE ENGAGEMENT ENTRY

This is such an inclusive way to entertain and involve all your loved ones into the occasion. Definitely tops our list of Bollywood-inspired entries!

5. THE BRIDE'S ENTRY

At the wedding, the eyes of every guest wait to watch the beautiful bride come in. But walks like these will ensure that you don't forget the entry for a long time. Like, for a very very long time.

Then there is another type of filmi entry (that is also sort of popular).

6. THE GROOM'S ENTRY

Isn't it special for the couple to walk to their own words of vows in their own recorded voices?

7. THE DECOR

The decor sets the tone and mahaul for the wedding events and one can sense what lavish means when they step into the mogra-adorned pillars and garlands hanging from various branches of trees. Here's what goes behind the scenes of creating a mind-blowing wedding decor.

Even if the wedding is an intimate one, who says a subtle decor cannot make a statement?

At times, it's difficult to figure out where to look... to check out the bride or the beautiful decor?!

8. THE SANGEET

Sangeets are the most fun wedding events and what separates a normal sangeet from an OTT sangeet is when the sangeet closely resembles a Filmfare Award night rather than just a dance party. You know, something like this...

Priyanka Chopra and Ankita Lokhande's sangeet turned heads because of the Filmafare Award feels that everyone got while looking at their sangeet pictures.

9. THE MAIN WEDDING (AND THE OTT REACTIONS!)

Though this is normal in South Indian weddings, we love how the priest reacts. Lol.

10. THE PHOTOSHOOT

The wedding photoshoot is an opportunity to capture time forever in a frame. No wonder, there are more photographers around the bride than her friends. But no matter how OTT this seems, we can let this pass.

11. THE BIDAAI

We wouldn't call this OTT,; rather, we would call this a different type of bidaai, the one which we really like. Cutting away from the traditional version of a bride bawling her eyes out at her bidaai, this one sweeps us away with the bride happily driving away with her groom.

What do you think about OTT desi shaadis?
