PIB photoshops Modi surveying Chennai. Twitter floods with jokes

Press Information Bureau became a laughing stock on social media when it tweeted a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducting an aerial survey of the flood-ravaged Chennai city but with "enhanced visual". In a bid to dramatise the reconnaissance attempt by the PM on an IAF aircraft, it appears that PIB inserted an edited, more sharply focussed picture of the flood fury to fit the window frame through which the prime minister is shown to be looking down.

On Thursday, as the PM landed in Chennai to inspect the extent of damage suffered by the Tamil Nadu capital, which has been battling non-stoprains for almost a week now, pictures of him assessing the inundated regions and submerged streets were posted by the official communications agency. Given that the skies were overcast and brightness low, the excessive sharpness of the picture immediately got Twitterati's goat. As they pointed out the glaring issue with the picture, the PIB promptly removed it. However, that didn't stop the barrage of amused reactions from pouring in.
