Does the new Game of Thrones trailer hint at Jon Snow joining hands with Daenerys Targaryen?

It’s that time of the year again. The seventh season of Game of Thrones is almost within our reach, and yet elusive. To keep fans on the edge even further, HBO has released yet another trailer of the penultimate season of the epic television drama and the first look is nothing short of breathtaking: dragons, battles, flaming swords and White Walkers. However, the time to admire it. Right now it is time to dissect it and look for clues.

Winter is coming

The battle for Westeros has now three major contenders: the North led by Jon Snow and Sansa Satrk, the Lannisters (well, just two of them) in King’s Landing, and the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targeryen.

The trailer begins with a lone Sansa Stark walking in the snowy Godswood in Winterfell. There are visuals of The Wall and Jon Snow on the other side. There is the tiniest of glimpses of the White Walkers and their leader.

We also get to see Brienne and Podrick, and the fierce warrior woman can be seen NOT donning the suit of armour gifted to her by Jaime Lannister. Curious. We also get to see a bit of The Hound, Who we found out last season, was very much alive and eager to kill. Weirdly enough Sandor “The Hound” Clegane can be seen in shaggy fur, almost similar to those worn by the wildlings. Could he have joined forces with them and by that logic with Jon Snow? It’ll be interesting to see The Hound allying with Brienne, the woman who almost killed him and left him for dead, now that they are both on the same side. Probably.

We also get to see a swarm of ravens fly over a crowd of wildlings, something that seems to get the attention of the Night’s King himself. We also see Bran sitting in a wheelchair like device. Not to digress, but is Bran turning into Charles Xavier from X-Men, because that would be pretty awesome.

But perhaps the most iconic scene from the trailer is the one with Beric Dondarrion. To jog your memory, Dondarrion was the leader of the Brotherhood Without Banners, a group of mercenaries in the Riverlands, and a follower of the Lord of Light. Dondarrion also had a rather special quality. He is kind of immortal. If you remember, he was stabbed to death by The Hound, several seasons ago and was promptly resurrected using magic by Thoros of Myr.

In his one-and-half second of glory in the trailer, Beric can be seen wearing thick and heavy furs (he’s probably beyond The Wall as well) and raising a flaming sword!

By the Old Gods and New, that scene was amazing.

Mother vs Mother

Cersei Lannister has proven without doubt that she is a foe worth reckoning. You just cannot tiptoe around her, poke her and not expect to get burnt. She may not have dragons, but she has a cold calculating mind that does not forgive. And with no children left, she has nothing left to lose.

We see the Unsullied forces attack King’s Landing and we see Daenerys at Dragonstone, her home.  We see the Jamie Lannister riding into a flame-ridden battlefield. Of course, there are also the Greyjoys, but does anyone really care about them? We do see a rain of fire being spit upon the ships of Yara and Theon Greyjoy.

The real contenders in this battle down south are ultimately going to be between the two mothers:  Daenery and Cersei. The trailer ends with Jon cutting down what looks like a Wildling, surrounded by a crowd of them. The combat scene looks ominous considering that all men beyond The Wall have a common enemy now. So why is Jon fighting another man?

But there is a catch. All men and women need to unite against the Walkers. It is after all these creatures of the dead that pose a threat to all Houses. We can hear Jon Snow’s voice in the trailer, where he says, "For centuries, our families fought together against their common enemy, despite their differences — together. We need to do the same if we're going to survive, because the enemy is real. It's always been real."

Is this a peace offering? Is he joining hands with Cersei and Daenerys to combat the Walkers? Are we finally going to see The Song of Ice and Fire?
