Pets have immense power to change a human being’s perspective on living life. They are known to improve your health and you can literally feel your heart melt when a cute doggy walks into your arms. They provide a very different kind of companionship where they make you feel present in every moment. Stroking and hugging animals can immediately soothe you from stress and they also help you meet new people.

The power of pets cannot be dismissed, even by the Pope, who recently mentioned in one of his messages about how pets were taking the place of children. And he is right, when pets are more manageable than children these days, who wouldn’t prefer them?
Pet owners always want to have stern boundaries before they get their pets. But once the pet comes in and crosses the boundaries, the boundaries get chucked out of the window, not the pets. As pets become family, doing something for them never feels like going overboard; instead it feels like the duty of a parent.
Here are some situations that made news for the pets' humans going overboard, but if you ask the parents, they'd probably say it was cool.

Here is a compilation of how pet owners went overboard to celebrate their pets.
1. A RS 7 LAKH BILL AND A COMPLIMENTARY ARREST WARRANT
The Gujarat police arrested three people recently because they had flouted Covid norms to celebrate their dog's birthday. Dago Mineshbhai Patel and family run a paan parlour in Gujarat, and wanted to celebrate their dog Abby's birthday. The Pomeranian dog Abby celebrated his birthday in style with the Patel family and their friends, as they danced to folk singer Kajal Mehria's Gujarati songs.
The family booked a huge party plot in Ahmedabad, decorated the place for the ‘pawfect’ doggo with lavish tents and large posters. But because so many people turned up without masks at a time when Ahmedabad was staring at a surge in Covid cases, the police booked three people under the Epidemic Act and arrested them for hosting the party.
2. A DOG'S 13TH BIRTHDAY - A BARK MITZVAH

A Bark Mitzvah became a new trend which caught attention of people when Hollywood sctor Jason Biggs and his wife performed the ceremony for their dog Teets. The dog Bar Mitzvah was completed with the 13-year-old dog receiving the blessings of Baruch atah Adonai at the Sinai temple in Westwood, California, as he transitioned into manhood (or doghood).
Many people have loved the idea as they feel that the dog has a right to religion as well. Also, it is an occasion to cherish their pet’s presence in their lives and giving a religious name to it is just a personal decision to celebrate the dog.

Recently another incident of a daily wage construction worker in Karnataka's Shivamogga district came to light when he organised a lavish birthday party for his pet Siberian husky Tyson. He held a grand party for 150 guests and gifted his dog the best birthday gift: a super luxurious mattress costing over Rs 15,000.
What was surprising was that Mohammed Ayaz earned just about Rs 1,000 a day by fitting tiles, but never thought twice before spending money on his pet baby. Even though the date of birth of his pet is unknown, the celebration marked one year of the dog's arrival at Ayaz's home.
3. A FISHY SURGERY
George underwent a US $200 life-saving operation in 2014 after a tumour was found in his body. Who is George? A tiny goldfish.
Before the surgery, the 10-year-old goldfish George was unable to swim and eat properly, and was starting to "really suffer".
When the doctor told the fish's owner that the only two options were either surgically removing the tumour or putting George to sleep forever, the owner decided to do everything she could to save the fish. How could she not? She was "quite attached" to him!

After the 45-minute surgery, George was transferred to a recovery unit and given oxygen. He also received injections with long-acting pain relievers and antibiotics. The Lort Smith Animal Hospital, a non-profit organisation in Melbourne, Australia, put a statement on their Facebook page saying, "The surgery went swimmingly and George has now returned home with his loving owner."

4. KIDNEY NEEDED FOR CAT
Heard of the saying "a cat has nine lives?" Stanley the cat was at the end of its nine lives, meaning it had survived all it could but would probably not survive this.
A US couple spent a whopping US $17,000 to save the life of their 17-year-old pet cat for its kidney transplant, as he was suffering an end-stage kidney failure. The veterinarian had said that the only way to save the black-and-white feline was a kidney transplant, if he even qualified for the surgery.
Another condition was that they had to adopt the donor cat as well.
For college professor Betsy Boyd, $17,000 wasn't too much to spend on her beloved cat's life-saving surgery. Would you do the same? https://t.co/UcbKZ42rQs pic.twitter.com/uOBSVgReum

Though Betsy Boyd earned just US $46,000 annually as a part-time writing professor, she chose to spend $17k to $19k in these costs, even though friends tried talking her out of it. She could have saved this money for her twins' education right? But she wanted Stanley around and he loved Betsy as much as any human being, and she loved him the same way. So she was going to do it anyway.
Here's what she said in an interview:
“I love all my cats, but Stanley is the only one who acts like a human trapped in a cat’s body. He’s so vocal and communicative. He maintains eye contact better than any cat I’ve ever known. When I’m at work, he waits at the window or front door for me to come home, just like a dog.”
5. DOG ON A PLANE
A dog stylishly boarded a business class cabin on a Mumbai to Chennai flight. Pretty usual? Nah. He was the only one there because the owner booked the entire cabin for the dog to travel luxuriously.
Each business class seat on a Mumbai-Chennai flight costs (at least) Rs 20,000 and the cabin has about 12 seats, with only 2 pets being allowed on a flight. So the owner must have spent a minimum of Rs 2,40,000. Apparently, dogs have travelled Air India business class before, but for the first time, an entire business cabin was booked for a pet.

Would you go so far for your pets if you ever had one?
And before we leave you to think about that question, here's a video of Telugu superstar Vijay Deverakonda and his husky, Storm, on the latter's first flight:
