ISRO sets space record, Twitter goes gaga, then decides to have some fun

It’s most certainly a proud day for India.

The Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) rocket, the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-37) created history today by carrying 104 satellites to space in a single launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday morning.

Not only was this ISRO’s first space mission in 2017, with the the primary satellite (Cartosat-2) and 101 international nano-satellites and two indigenously-built nano satellites, INS-1A and INS-1B, all on-board, this was easily one of the toughest it has ever attempted.

The PSLV-37, which is 44m in height and 2.8m in diameter, has now successfully put 226 satellites in orbit. And it's not just India that has employed PSLV. 19 different countries have used it to launch more than 40 satellites.

ISRO's giant success, as usual led to a flurry of congratulatory tweets from politicians all around the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee congratulated ISRO for setting the space technology record and upping the ante, as it were, in the global space race, in which it's a significant player.

But it also led to a significant spike in jugaad jokes all across Twitter. But say what you want, Twitter always reacts to news in the best possible way.

This is one suggestion that needs to be taken seriously.

Jugaad jokes, as usual.

This is a valid complaint.

For the first time ever, this is one "UNESCO announcement" that needs to be true.
