Meghan Markle's Wardrobe Malfunction: The Duchess who made Britain 'modern' now thrills with a glimpse of bra

There is no dearth of attempts to bring down the infallibles and how.

People wondering aloud on social media about whether the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, willingly flashed her black lace bra to steal the show on her 36th birthday — her first royal birthday — missed one point.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, wardrobe malfunction is ‘an instance of a person accidentally exposing an intimate part of their body as a result of an article of clothing slipping out of position’.

Whatever! The Royals are apparently 'divine'. Going by that, they shouldn't even care about all this earthly whingeing.

But interestingly, there is no dearth of attempts to bring down the royal infallibles and how.

Oh my! Serious concerned were raised over her black bra as that might have broken the Royal Protocol

By some, Meghan was considered “lucky” as the bra perfectly matched with her £400 dark navy dress, which had trimmings of lilac, pink and green on it. Had it not matched, the Suits actor might have received fashion tips as well from various concerned corners.

It was also pointed out how she shrugged off the ‘malfunction’ without betraying any sign of ‘suffering’, and readjusting her dress, continued waving.

What else was she supposed to do? Collapse in shock and shame?

She was happily waving despite this 'suffering'. Strange!

On August 4, which was also her birthday, Meghan joined Prince Harry at the wedding of Charlie van Straubenzee, a close friend of Harry, and Daisy Jenks at St Mary the Virgin Church in Frensham, Surrey.

Serious concerns were raised over her black bra as that might have broken royal protocol, which she has anyway apparently broken a number of times, by not wearing nude stockings, by hugging commoners, by holding hands with Harry in public, by (shocking) wearing the same hairstyle on various occasions, etc.

And the list might have become lengthier on August 4 until some ‘etiquette police’ confirmed that 'wardrobe malfunction' is not tantamount to breach of royal protocol.

It is interesting how so many things fall under 'wardrobe malfunction'.

Last month, Prince Charles was unable to do up his gloves and asked Camilla to help. This apparently was a majorly embarrassing moment to the UK media. Also, once Kate Middleton got her heel stuck in a metal drain gate. That too promptly became wardrobe malfunction.

Some of these royal faux pas carry interesting inside stories.

No more malfunctions! Kate Middleton has had harrowing times in the past, with tabloids after her

Like, in 2014, a German tabloid published photos of Kate Middleton’s naked bottom, taken when she was apparently boarding a helicopter during an Australia trip with Prince William.

That some people are celebrating the fact that Meghan was at least wearing a bra might have its roots in this incident, which revealed that Kate was reportedly not wearing underwear with her £295 blue-and-white Diane von Furstenberg dress.

As the inside story goes, the photos were offered to top British publications initially, but as they apparently refused to print these, those were sold to the highest bidder at the, well, bottom.

The tabloid world was happy indeed and they actually “thanked” the wind “for the insight into the royal household”. They even went on to compare the photo with that of the Kardashian sisters and captioned this stunning analysis as “backsides which have moved us these past few days”.

Before this incident, the Royals had sued a French magazine for publishing topless photos of Middleton taken during a vacation in Provence.

No wonder “Her Majesty’s skirts are always fitted at the hem with small lead curtain weights, which cost just £1.50 for a pack of four, to prevent the royal hemline from flying away in a gust of wind”.

What better way to discipline natural forces — which annoyingly can’t be ruled under royal protocol!

While the “royal robe” of etiquette must be very heavy, it is particularly difficult for Meghan, who is also being pulled down publicly every day by her half-sister Samatha Markle, who is reportedly writing a book called Living in the Shadows of the Duchess.

Her past relationships and details from her childhood came under close scrutiny of the UK media before her wedding, which was supposed to be the harbinger of a new, modern era for breaking so many shackles.

Shackles, it did break.

The official profile of Meghan on the website of the monarchy highlights her quote from the 2015 United Nations conference where she said, “I am proud to be a woman and a feminist’. The profile also lists her work towards gender equality. It was also widely noted and praised how the duchess was encouraging women designers through her choice of outing costumes.

But all this could not lessen the 'joy' the ‘polite’ Brits now derive from discovering Meghan too has Marilyn Monroe-like moments.
