No surprise, Chhattisgarh Sanskrit Board chairman rebukes Modi on gau rakshaks

Murder seems to be the new legit "national" sport in the illegitimately-conceived "Hindu Rashtra".

For the self-proclaimed "Virat Hindus" after fathering the idea of a Hindu Rashtra, wants mass murderers to swarm it.

What else could justify such open, bellicose calls for killing of human beings for the "imagined killing of cows".

"People who killed the gau hathyara (cow killer) in Rajasthan should be honoured," the Sanskrit Board chairman in BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh has been reported to have said it in a video that has gone viral.

According to this news report in The Hindustan Times, Swami Parmatamanand made the statement at an event titled Virat Hindu Sammelan in Ambikapur district on Sunday (July 9). He, however, did not name Pehlu Khan, the dairy farmer who was violently assaulted in Alwar on April 1, and died two days later, the report said.

Mere Ved mein likha hai ki gau hatyare ko sheeshe ki goli se maaro... kshama na karo. Aur Rajasthan mein jisne uss gau hatyare ko mara, uska swagat karo Chhattisgarh mein bula ke (It is written in Vedas that those who kill cows should be killed. Those who killed the cow killer in Rajasthan should be invited to Chhattisgarh and honoured),” Parmatamanand said in the video.

Incidentally, the post of Sanskrit board chairman is deemed equivalent to that of cabinet minister rank.

The same news report, though says that the Chhattisgarh government is yet to notify cabinet-minister rank for Parmatamanand. “He took charge as the Sanskrit Board chairman in May and the notification hasn’t come so far,” an unnamed government official was quoted as saying.

In his virulent speech, the saffron-clad swami is also heard questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that killing people in the name of “gau raksha (cow worship)” is unacceptable.

“How can the prime minister say that gau rakhshaks are criminals?"

"Kuch gau rakshak goonde ho sakte hain... par mere Bajrang Dal mein jitne gau rakshaks hain woh gau raksha karte hain (It is possible that a few are goons... but all those gau rakshaks in my Bajrang Dal actually protect the cows).”

His open challenge and the denouncement of Narendra Modi's statement on murders by gau rakshaks also signifies that the PM's words of "reprimand" have had no effect on either the criminals or those like Parmatamanand who incite gau rakshaks to commit murders.

That the prime minister or his words mean nothing to "Virat Hindus" and the votaries of Hindu Rashtra, which comprise members from assorted Hindutva outfits, is quite evident.

When PM Modi finally broke his silence and condemned lynchings by gau rakshaks recently in Sabarmati Ashram, it was already considered quite late in the day, especially after repeated incidents of cow vigilantism and violent murders evoked no response from him.

He, however, gave hope to many optimists who believed that the PM's "firm and unambiguous" reprimand will stop the bigotry and lumpenism in the name of gau raksha. Sadly, one can't ignore the fact that such propagators of violence gained currency ever since the Modi government came to power in 2014. The fact that these hate-mongers baying for blood have been emboldened so much that now they give two hoots to the PM's words. This is the same prime minister who was being hailed as the "Hindu hriday samrat" by his bhakts.

Amid such bellicosity, the banality of condemning cow vigilants looks like nothing but attempts to brush the matter under carpet.

Gau rakshaks and hate-mongers like Swami Parmatamanand must be brought to book immediately for such serious criminal intimidation, and not let go with a rap on the knuckles, not to mention decorating them with plum positions in boards and commissions.
