Surgical strike on black money: Twitter reactions to Modi sarkar's Rs 500/1,000 ban

Just when millions in India had given up on Modi sarkar's 2014 mammoth poll promise that he would return Rs 15 lakh to every Indian's account by wiping out the last trace of black money, the PM dropped the biggest announcement by declaring that all existing Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes will be declared invalid.

Unlike earlier times, when his government's statistics and a brutal inflation have miserably failed PM Modi's performance claims that Indian economy is shining, the PM means business. Every citizen has only 50 days to return high-value currency.

So, we can all forget trading the last dirty 500 buck note for loose change at the petrol pump.

PM Modi believes his government has recovered Rs 1.25 lakh crore of black money with its stellar crackdown on tax defaulters and ingenious swindlers. We're not contesting that (for now at least).

Is this surgical strike on black money? We hope so.

Hilarious case of a guy in kolkata on TV who went to the atm to withdraw Rs 500 and out came a 500 note ! #no500 #no1000 #BlackMoney

Railway stations and airports will allow Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes till November 11, so that all people with black money can push off.

Meanwhile, this is what the new high-value currency will look like:
