POLICE’S VERSION

"A man was killed last night in Gardens Galleria Mall, Noida. Some people got into a fight with bar staff during which one person was severely injured. He was taken to hospital, where doctors declared him dead," said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Ranvijay Singh.

The ADCP said that they have taken into custody the bar staff who were involved in the brawl.

"We have got the CCTV footage and have identified many people, and legal action is being taken against them," said ADCP Singh.

The ADCP also said that they have arrested 14 people from the bar and are questioning them, reported Aaj Tak.

According to the police, the bill had come to around Rs 7,000, to which the group alleged they were being wrongly charged with the number of beers that they had.

Brijesh and his friends were asked to leave, which led to a fist fight. Brijesh got seriously injured in the scuffle and was taken to Paras Hospital, where he was declared dead, reported India Today.

PUB'S RESPONSE

The men detained claimed that Brijesh had been trying to avoid paying the bill, which led to an argument with one of the pub employees.

“The man stepped into our outlet and he was already drunk,” the first suspect told a India Today reporter. “He took some more drinks inside. He was evasive when asked about paying the bill. He kept telling the staff to come 15, 20, 30 minutes later. All this led to an argument and the mall security was alerted. The man, however, settled the bill and was moved out,” he said.

According to the pub staff, it was the mall security that beat up the guest and not the pub employees.

"The mall security came in and beat him up. They had an argument and they slapped him. We didn’t beat him. There was only one man from our staff who slapped him once,” said the staff member in custody," India Today reported quoting a pub employee who is now detained.

WIFE’S ALLEGATIONS

Brijesh's wife, Poojai Rai, said that she was not contacted by police or any other authority regarding the investigation or to intimate her about the incident, reported India Today

She said the FIR was registered on the basis of the statement of Brijesh's colleagues.

Pooja wants the friends who were accompanying him to also be questioned. She asks why did they not inform her when such an incident had happened, and they had already taken Brijesh to the hospital.
