This Kargil martyr's daughter has a message for Indian Muslim-haters

In a climate of mutual hatred and fear between India and Pakistan, these silent words, written in black on white placards, are screaming out loud to be heard.

These are the words of young Gurmehar Kaur, whose father, captain Mandeep Singh, was killed in the 1999 Kargil War when she was only two.

In a beautiful video called #ProfileForPeace, Gurmehar appeals for "NOT WAR". Using only placards that convey the grimness of her situation, Gurmehar does not utter a single sound, but makes a powerful impact.

We learn that as a six-year-old, she tried stabbing a woman in burqa because she thought all Muslims were Pakistanis and responsible for her father's death. Until, life taught her something else altogether.

Produced and shared by Ram Subramanian, the video makes us see the India-Pakistan hate story through young Gurmehar's eyes, which are sad but forgiving. Her placards are more mature than the one-upmanship seen in the highest echelons of New Delhi's and Islamabad's diplomatic circuits.

If Gurmehar could let go of her hatred, why can't we?
