DailyOh! Rhea Chakraborty’s tell-all interview, to Ek, Do, Teen for Virushka

Rhea says she did say ‘sorry babu’ to Sushant because what else was there to say?

From One Two Ka Four and Four Two Ka One, we now have One and Two ka Three. One and Two are Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli respectively. Three is yet to be named because Three is yet to arrive. More on the arrival of Three later.

More on Rhea Chakraborty’s June 8 departure from Sushant Singh Rajput’s house now. After she left the house, Rhea exchanged messages with Mahesh Bhatt because break-ups are also times for blurting stuff. Only, Rhea says her exchange of messages were not about Sushant, which doesn’t mean she wasn’t hurt. “I was upset and hurt that SSR didn't call me back and didn't want me back, I wondered if he wanted to push me away because I was unwell. But my conversation with Bhatt saab had nothing to do with that,” Rhea told India Today Television Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai in an interview.

What about the hard drives that were destroyed? Rhea says she doesn’t know because no hard drive was destroyed while she was there. Sushant’s friend Siddharth Pithani, who was in the house when Rhea left and also when Sushant died, had reportedly told the CBI, that before Rhea left, the couple called a technician and destroyed eight hard drives. Rhea says this must be a concocted story much like all other stories related to the case are.

Rhea admitted she said ‘sorry babu’ to Sushant's body, because what else was there to say?

All stories, concocted or not, are like dots. Joining them is the job of the investigators. Others can do it for fun or as a time-pass, but none of what you come up with is admissible evidence in the court of law.

All dots in the puzzle would be put through trial based on the evidence investigating agencies pull out. But before the case goes to trial, Rhea has sought protection for her family in an Instagram post, her first since July 24.

Since we are talking trials, Oxford coronavirus vaccine has entered Phase II trials in India. That is good news. But Russia’s got better news for Russians, because not many others believe the news. What is the news? Russia has started trials on its second vaccine.

Good luck to the Russians.

The vaccine is yet to come but Congress leader Rahul Gandhi says a “fair and inclusive Covid vaccine access strategy” should have come by now. Fair point. India has already set up a task force to decide vaccine distribution along with other issues related to the vaccine, including who should get it first and who last.

Do you know who was the first person to get the smallpox vaccine in India? Of course, you do know that smallpox vaccine was the first successful vaccine to be developed in 1796. The first to be inoculated with the vaccine in India was Anna Dusthall. Anna was a three-year-old child and got the vaccine shot on her arm on June 14, 1802. Why is Anna important? Because this patient originally emanated the whole of the vaccine virus now in use in India.

So Anna lives even after she is gone, but coming in January is Three, the third member in Virushka’s family. “And then, we were three! Arriving Jan 2021,” wrote Anushka on her social media profiles with a photo showing her baby bump. Virat is also in the photo and then people began congratulating the couple as tagging them together as Virushka.

The trend of turning couple names into portmanteaus reportedly started with Bennifer. That is Ben Affleck put together with Jennifer Lopez. Then of course came Brangelina – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

But portmanteaus, pronounced pawt + man + tow, goes beyond making brands out of celebrity couples. Portmanteaus is a linguistic blending of words. It is also the Word Of The Day. Portmanteau comes from French word portemanteau, where porte means to carry, and manteau means cloak. It was basically used for an officer who carries the mantle of a person in a high position.

Oxford dictionary defines portmanteau as a large, heavy bag that opens into two parts. The parts are always together. So words that bring together words are portmanteau. There is no better way of understanding things than citing examples. So a portmanteau example is smog – smoke plus fog.

When Tik and Tok come together they make TikTok, but it is not a portmanteau because individually Tik and Tok mean nothing. They still rhyme well. But chief executive officer Kevin Mayer is out of sync with the company and has quit as the CEO.

The company, which is racing against time in the face of a ban promised by Donald Trump in the US, is also not in sync with Google and Netflix because both don’t plan to buy it from Bytedance.

We don’t know if TikTok will have to pack its bags from US and leave for China because talks to buy/sell the app are on. The virus from China meanwhile has reached the Andaman and Nicobar Islands with its bags and baggage and housed itself in five people belonging to Great Andamanese tribe. Great Andamanese tribe is listed as an endangered tribe and coronavirus reaching the tribe members has only raised the danger.

Also in danger is Congress leader Jitin Prasada, who had recently provided his signature to a letter written to Sonia Gandhi demanding that their demands of leadership change and organisational overhaul within the party be met.

A Congress unit in Uttar Pradesh has demanded action against all letter writers, numbering 23, who dared to make their own demands.

Kapil Sibal then reminded the Congress unit that in UP they should be targeting the BJP government and not their own party. There are self-goals and then there are some more self-goals. But the game is not over till it is over.

On that note, we will be signing off for today.

Be back tomorrow.
