Sushma Swaraj is the heroine India needs

Sushma Swaraj has had two good years in the government. The minister for external affairs has been hands-on and extremely proactive in helping people and, more importantly, has been seen doing it.

One of the key aspects of her reign as external affairs minister has been her prompt verification and response to people in need through Twitter. Recently she helped in providing India's unemployed workers stuck in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait with rations. The entire process was transparent, with timely updates on Twitter.

Her social media presence has been accessible and humble, making her a game changer in Indian diplomacy. She exudes the strength needed in a diplomatic negotiator, but with a surprisingly soft touch, as was evident in her legendary refrigerator tweet.

Sushma showed us a new side, a romantic side when she decided to help Faizan Patel, a Mangalore-based photographer who had tweeted about going to Italy for his honeymoon alone because his wife lost her passport.

MEA sprung into action and set the wheels in motion, which allowed Patel's wife to acquire a duplicate passport so she could be with him.

Interestingly, some went deep into Faizan Patel's tweets and found some not so favourable ones about Sushma.

But Sushma doesn't care, she just helps everyone.
