With the wedding news now confirmed, the urge to still latch on to every piece of detail trickling in on the mother of all weddings that happened in Italy's Tuscany is simply irresistible.
Here's a rundown to how the beans on the wedding were not spilled till the last minute and what it took for Virat and Anushka to come together into this eternal bond.
Planning happened in Sri Lanka
The two families reportedly met and discussed the wedding in Sri Lanka. (Alas! The media got carried away with the couple seen planting a sapling together, seeing it only as an exercise into bonding). The family priest, it is believed, suggested December was the right time and preparations took off right then, of course, in absolute secrecy.
While Anushka kept repeating she wants to focus only on her work, Virat's adorable posts about Anushka kept the media gushing.
The planners
Shaadi Squad, it has emerged, helped the couple silently plan everything down to the last detail.
"Four months of keeping a secret, hiding even from our own team, the secret recces, midnight meetings, vague conversations, and sleepless nights have finally manifested into this grand moment. Thank you Anuskha and Virat, for making us part of your family and trusting us to pull off something of this magnitude. You believed in us, even on those sleepless nights that we didn't," the wedding planner was quoted as saying.
How the speculations started
The rumours about their wedding gathered steam when Virat asked for rest during the One-Day International and T20 series against Sri Lanka. He will join the team for the South Africa series which starts from December 30.
After Anushka was spotted at the Mumbai airport on December 6, leaving on a Swiss flight with her family including father Ajay Kumar, mother Ashima and elder brother Karnesh, speculations were almost confirmed by some sections of the media.
The wedding ensemble
Fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, worked on their wedding ensemble of both Virat and Anushka silently all through.

"It was wonderful to work with the couple. From the House of Sabyasachi, we wish Anushka and Virat a very happy married life," Mukherjee said.
The designer ensured Anushka sported a different look at every function.
Grand entry
Anushka chose the popular Jasleen Royal-track Din Shagna Da Chadeya... for her grand entry on the big day.

Food at the wedding
Indians take their food seriously, and Virat and Anushka made sure that the menu at their wedding was tailor-made. Chef Ritu Dalmia was reportedly in-charge of the catering and served a mix of Indian and Italian delicacies.
Venue
A Forbes report states that Borgo Finocchieto, where the ceremony took place, was "the second-most expensive holiday rental during Christmas and New Year. The hotel charges Rs 94,83,210 per week, which translates to Rs 13,54,744 per night."

Post-wedding life
Virat and Anushka will be shifting to their new residence at Worli in Mumbai in December, once they return from Delhi after the reception.
The couple will then travel to South Africa where Virat will start preparing for the upcoming series and Anushka will spend New Year's Eve with him. The actor will return in the first week of January to shoot for Aanand L Rai's untitled film with Shah Rukh in Mumbai.
