Will we ever see Ranveer and Deepika together in a commercial?

We just hope everything is fine between them!

The wedding of two celebrities may upset their fans or their careers (as many would like to believe), but those who are never upset are the brands with deep pockets. Because they can now rope in both of them and reach their audience with much more emotion and make-believe appeal.

Like, when Saif Ali Khan and Kareena search for rental homes during their Europe trip on the Airbnb advertisement, not many will actually believe that chhote nawab needs an app to book a rental apartment — but still, it’s what the audience apparently watch. Had Saif Ali Khan alone looked for a rental apartment, it must have seemed utterly unacceptable to Indian audience. Why would a married Indian man go on a vacation alone!

And that’s what feeds the advertising world. Be it Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya or Kajol-Ajay Devgn, John-Bipasha (not anymore) or Virat Kohli with Anushka Sharma — the ad world strongly believes that a couple can do wonders! Singles can never convince Indian audiences.

Now in terms of this, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone present an unexplored field. They have not been seen together in any commercial so far. The first brand to get them together ahead of their wedding or after will just steal the show. Hands down!

But, we tell you, that it won’t be easy.

Who'll take the call?

While the jury must be out as far as their box office performances are concerned, in the commercial world, Deepika is a clear winner. Last year, she became the celebrity with the highest number (18) of brand endorsements in India.

Ranveer Singh is not far behind. He has managed brands like Durex, Rupa Innerware with Switzerland Tourism and Jack and Jones (the sexist ad was pulled off and Ranveer apologised for it) with utmost ease.

So, if the duo decides to finally star in a commercial together, who will take the call?

Involvement with commercials

Both of them carefully choose the brands they are endorsing (though everyone claims to do so).

Early this year, Deepika reportedly decided not to promote any aerated beverage and rejected a multi-crore offer as she wants to be part of brands that promotes healthy lifestyles.

Talk about healthy lifestyles and Ranveer Singh became the endorser of Thumbs Up last year. He also endorses ready-to-eat noodles Ching’s Secret. According to a report, Capital Foods (the maker of Ching’s) never considered Ranveer to be their brand ambassador. Ranveer is very much part of their marketing team and Ching’s didn’t have an advertising agency. Ranveer, who had worked as a copywriter with Ogilvy and JWT before making it big in Bollywood, was their advertisement expert.

So, both Deepika and Ranveer are quite involved with their commercials and their individual choices have clearly nothing to do with each other.

At odds

Now, when you think about it, you might wonder whether it has been a strategy of Deep-Veer to be part of rival brands.

Or, does that suit their personalities?

We have always seen Deepika as the more mature, more composed half while all quirkiness rests with Ranveer.

Have they managed their advertisement portfolios accordingly?

Deepika endorses GoIbibo, while Ranveer is the brand ambassador of MakeMyTrip. Kotak Mahindra roped in Ranveer while Deepika endorses Axis. Same with Vivo (Ranveer) and Oppo (Deepika), Asian Paints (Deepika) and Nerolac Paints (Ranveer), Adidas Originals (Ranveer) and Nike (Deepika), L'Oreal (Deepika) and Head & Shoulders (Ranveer), Flipkart (Deepika) and Club Factory (Ranveer).

Once upon a time Deepika was with Coca-Cola — and well, Ranveer chose Thumbs Up to promote.

Remember Deepika’s first commercial for Close-Up. Well, Ranveer later chose to promote Colgate.

With such contrasting choices, we just wish this vibrant couple the very best when choosing their future ad brands!
