[Watch] Commentators re-enact last ball drama in #IndvsBan World T20 match

India may have scraped through against Bangladesh by one run in the ongoing World T20, but what the win did, apart from handing India a lifeline, was that it produced the match of the tournament. It would be remembered for the way Bangladesh, having been in the driver's seat all through, capitulated in the last three balls. It was drama of a very high order, climaxing with Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni running to the stumps after the batsman missed the last ball, needing two runs to win, and breaking them, thereby handing India the win.

That last act of the play was the most enduring. And it engendered a dramatic reconstruction. After the match, a few international players-turned-commentators, including Shaun Pollock, Darren Ganga, Russel Arnold and Nick Knight recreated the epic run out that sealed the deal for India, and also had Aleem Dar umpiring.

And it was all fun and games. The International Cricket Council (ICC) had the video recorded and it has become quite popular on social media.

Pollock, playing the role of Hardik Pandya, bowled the delivery wide of the off stump, as Pandya did (a bit wider maybe); Ganga, who was playing Dhoni, had removed his right glove before the ball was bowled, exactly as Dhoni did, and when Arnold "missed" the ball, a la Shuvagata Hom, Ganga dashed to the stumps and ran out Knight, who was playing Mustafizur.

Aleem Dar referred it to the third umpire, as he would have done in a real situation.

Full marks to the participants for playing their parts exactly as they happened in reality. It was great fun to watch.

Here's the video. Sit back and enjoy!

And here is how it happened in reality:
