Former American footballer Zac Stacy hits ex-girlfriend in disturbing viral video. Twitter reacts

(TRIGGER WARNING: The story contains description of violence and can be disturbing to some.)

A chilling video (scenes of extreme violence; viewer discretion advised) shows a man in red shoes and all-black outfit suddenly slapping a woman, hitting her on the head, yanking her from the sofa and tossing her across the room on to the TV, which then falls on her. The woman on the floor tries to cover her head, fearing more assault, and can be heard pleading with the man to stop. The man then throws an object at her before lifting her up again and slamming her to the ground. 

All the while, there’s an infant in a baby chair in one corner, dangerously close the violence unfolding. The video doing the rounds on Twitter is from the United States.

WHO? The man in the video is a well-known US athlete. He is the former National Football League (NFL) Running Back Zac Stacy. The woman is his ex-girlfriend and the infant their 5-month-old son. The incident took place at the ex-girlfriend’s Florida home.

Zac Stacy has played American football (a little similar to rugby) for various well-known teams such as the New York Jets, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Memphis Express.

WHAT? According to TMZ, Stacy came to his ex-girlfriend’s house to visit their son. However, an argument between the two resulted in the former footballer becoming furious and aggressive. The woman had reportedly applied for a restraining order against him, which is said to have caused the argument.

WHAT THE WOMAN SAID: "He punched me several times in the head! I begged him to stop because the baby was on the couch just a few feet from where he punched me," the woman wrote in the restraining order application, according to TMZ.

Describing the ordeal, the woman said, “He then picked me up and threw me into my TV. The TV began to fall and he turned to make sure I wasn't getting up. As I laid on the floor he began to yell at me, telling me I'm destructive. He then picked me up off the floor and off my feet and body-slammed me into our son's bouncy seat." 

TMZ reported that the woman said she feared for her and her children’s lives while getting a restraining order against Stacy. The former footballer bolted out of the house after abusing his girlfriend.

TWITTER IS FURIOUS: Twitterati is calling for the arrest of Zac Stacy. Some pointed out that without the solid proof of a video capturing the entire assault, the horrifying nature of the incident would have never come out and the victim would have had to go to great lengths to prove the abuse.

Imagine if this video weren’t shared. Someone probably would’ve been out here crying racism trying to defend Zac Stacy and this abuse would’ve continued. He needs to be arrested and thrown in prison for the rest of his sorry ass life.
