Imagine a town where there are no buildings. Just Disneyworld castles.

Turkey Has One Such Town

Burj Al Babas is an abandoned town in Turkey that is filled with nothing but such castles.

Why Were The Castles Built?

Construction started in 2014, with the project supposed to be a Gothic getaway for rich people.

Where Is It Located? 

Sitting near the Black Sea, this Turkish town, Burj Al Babas, has at least 587 castles.

So... What Happened?

Sarot Group, the developers, soon went bankrupt facing a debt of
24 million British pounds.

Locals Aren't A Fan 

The Turkish people were further enraged as the castles were too European in architecture. 

Environmental Damage

A lawsuit against the developers also accused them of harming the surrounding environment.

Does Anyone Still Live Here?

Currently, Burj Al Babas is unlivable, with no civic amenities in the surrounding region.

Even though Sarot had hopes to get out of bankruptcy, the pandemic made its completion impossible.
