the new discovery

The recent revealation of a corridor in the Pyramid of Giza, has actually opened many new gates for research.

WHAT iS IT?

It is an empty corridor with rough-hewn stone block walls and a stone ceiling. Video from an endoscope showed the inside of the corridor, which is 9m long and 2.1m wide.

The discovery was originally made by the ScanPyramids project in 2016 and since then, scientists have carried various experiments.

HOW WAS THE DISCOVERY  MADE?

The initial discovery was made using a technique known as cosmic-ray muon radiography.

why is it soimportant?

Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass said that it might help reveal whether the burial chamber of King Khufu still existed inside the pyramid.

footage released

The footage from the camera was unveiled at a news conference beside the pyramid on Thursday (March 2) by Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa.
