Game of Thrones returning soon, but fans may not be able to take it anymore

It’s that time of the year again, when we all start preparing our bodies and minds for a new season of Game of Thrones.

It's still pretty far away but the wait till July 16, when the new season will premier, is going to be a bitter sweet one. The seventh season is the series' penultimate one and more than anything, it will be shortest GoT season so far. While all previous seasons have all featured 10 episodes, season seven, according to the producers, will be much sorter, though there hasn't been any word on the exact number of episodes.

While George RR Martin may make the world wait for Winds of Winter more than fans have waited (and continue to wait) for a new Tool album, HBO and producers David Benioff and DB Weiss find it prudent to wrap up the show in eight seasons, because at this point, the show and the book series bear as much resemblance to each other as people do with their pre-pubescent selves.

But penultimate or not, there is no denying that the show, over the course of six years has grown steadily darker (it was pretty damn macabre to being with). The previous season ended with the establishment of Jon Snow as the heir of the North, Daenerys consolidating her powers and finally crossing the narrow sea, and Cersei Lannister making everyone remember once and for all, in a highly Walter White-esque move that SHE is the one who knocks!

This season, whiteout a shred of doubt, will se much more bloodshed, struggle and conflict, now that the final players in the game of thrones has been fully established. The fate of Westeros now rests with the Stark children and the Mother of Dragons. And it seems almost clear that very few of that entire lot are going to make it to the end. Which is what the new teaser trailer for the seventh season attempt to prophesise.

Root for whoever you want to, one thing is absolutely clear, it is far easier to sympathise with any of the sketchy characters from Game of Thrones, than it will ever be for us to sympathise with our politicians, who seem to be playing their much lamer, and more dangerous (consequences-wise) version of the show.

Honestly though, Indian politics would be so much more awesome with a dragon involved.
